Depression
Ok... real life post here.
Right now I am deep down depressed... it is a soul sucking, energy draining depression that makes it hard to do anything. The kind of depression that can easily turn nasty if I let it... but I won't go there. There are days that I feel like I am barely holding on and it feel so hopeless, and I really don't want to hang on anymore... but I am and will continue to because I need to. I know that better times are on the way, I know deep down that this is just a small hurdle to get over(even though here in the middle of it it doesn't seem that small....)
This depression also breeds anxiety, and sensory overloads from all the noises around me, There were a couple of times last night I woke up and fought to go back to sleep... the squeaking of the ceiling fan, and the hum of the window unit were as bad as fingernails on a chalk board... These anxieties, and overloads make it really hard to feel like I am a good mother or wife. Which in turn feeds the depression even more.
Being isolated doesn't help either... All my friends are on the other side of town. And with only the one vehicle it makes it difficult to be able to go visiting... so I spend a lot of time on Facebook...
Hanging on ... I have a Dr. Appointment in November... hopefully I can get some relief then.
Want to make me smile a little? Send me a message of encouragement, or even just make an order off of youravon.com/astansbury (yes seeing that someone made an order makes me smile, and also takes away some of my stress...)

Why Avon?
I'm sure a lot of you are wondering why I decided to sell Avon... To be honest, I had use very few products before I started selling (and those that I had used was make up that had been left here.). So I had no real knowledge of the products other than knowing the company has been around for years, my mom had used Avon when I was little... and a lady that lived across the street from us sold it. (I remember stuffing envelopes for her to send to her customers.)
So why did I decide at the end of December last year to start selling Avon? Well the start up price was right ($15). I received a free web store from Avon (youravon.com/astansbury is mine :) ) for customers to use. I can do online training. You don't have to spend money, but there are tools (like brochures every 2 weeks) that can be helpful in face to face sales. (and yes those have to be purchased). I did it because a) I could afford it, and b) the products are so affordable that tight wad little me can justify spending money on myself :).
Next question is am I making money... honestly (and those of you that know me know that that is the only way I can be) sometimes yes and sometimes no. This last campaign I had no in person sales, and 2 online sales, and still needed to get brochures. But there have been a few times I have made around $50 after costs...
How is my commission decided? Online sales are set at 20% (If I make president's club (sell $10,000 in the year) then that would be 25% for the next year, and as long as I sell at the president's club level)... flat % rate...sounds bad? But I could have a small sale online (say$15) and still get that 20%....Ok... so what do I make for my in person sales? In person sales+ Demos, Samples, sales tools, and brochures +Online sales = Order size
$0-$49.99 =0%
$50-$149.99 =20%
$150-$294.99 =30%
$295-$439.99 =35%
$440-$924.99 =40%
$925-$1574.99 =45%
$1575+ =50%
(If I were to make it to president's club I would be guaranteed 40% earnings on products I deliver in person... there are two levels above this that would guarantee 45% and 50% earnings once reached)
There are bonuses I can earn if I go into leadership, not really sure how that works, but I know that to earn those bonuses... my personal sales have to be at least $200 for that campaign...so it's not like I'd be making all my money off my team :) I am a member of several Facebook groups that are run by Avon reps who have "made it" and are still working it :) And I have learned that if I get team members (ones that are willing to put in the effort required, and do the leg work, get the customers and the sales) I hope to be a leader that they can look up to and go to for help with their questions (and I would also encourage them to join the groups I have joined to get help when I am not able to.... :)
So... if you think you might want to give Avon a try (buying or selling) but have questions send me a message. If you want to start selling... please feel free to go to youravon.com/astansbury and click on the Believe in your Business box to get started. (if you are asked for a referral code enter astansbury), If you want to buy Avon my web store is youravon.com/astansbury... you can shop the brochures (look through them online) please sign up as a customer by clicking on the Get updates from me button...that way I get assigned as your rep before you start shopping :)

So Sorry for the silence lately
I got side tracked and overwhelmed with my oldest starting High School next week. Yes I realize that I haven't posted since April (and if anyone wants me to finish putting up the autism awareness posts that I had on my Facebook in the month of April... let me know and I will... as autism is one of the main things that has had me so sidetracked and overwhelmed).
Anyway... I'm still selling Avon . And I am still using and loving the products. :) I want to start posting website specials that are coming up, reviews of products, demonstrate products, and give advice. While I'm honestly not seeing a lot of profit, I have had a few months that I have been able to pay on a credit card... and right now that is one of my hopes is to be able to at least make one or two minimum payments towards bills.
I recently took a course on skin care and the Avon Anew brand, learning about the products, different skin types and concerns... and which products are best for which concerns :) so if you happen to have any questions about skin care let me know and I'll help you :)
I am writing this for all of you... so what do you want to see/read about?

Autism Awareness / Acceptance Month
Please forgive my slacking off on my blog... concentrating on spreading Acceptance for my guys :) on Facebook. This has been a busy month so far most of my energy has been going into my oldest's ARD meeting getting prepared, and dealing with that.
I have not given up on my Avon business at all (did have a small set back last campaign do to a billing issue) but that has all for the most part been straightened out. This wasn't a very big order that is going in tomorrow. But there is still plenty of time for orders to go in.
I am going to put my Facebook posts for this month here in my blog :) .
I'll start with the first three days, and add three more in a new post tomorrow.
Day 1:And welcome to Autism Awareness and Acceptance month. Autism is a Neurological and developmental disorder (hate that word... how about difference
smile emoticon ) Basically it is a different operating system... Many people with autism also have sensory issues... and too much sensory in put can cause shut downs and/or melt downs. Because they are trying to sort through all the input their brains are receiving and they are having trouble doing so. relegating information is a difficult task at times when there is a lot of back ground stuff going on. You may not notice the lights buzzing, the three different perfumes that different people are wearing, the brightly colored clothing a few of the people in the room are wearing, and the 6 or 7 different conversations going on... but these things are enough to cause an over load of information which may cause a child (or adult) to have a meltdown (not a tantrum as they are not seeking attention but rather escape) or a shutdown where they are unable to complete the task at hand because their mind is taking a break. self stemming behaviors (rocking, hand flapping, finger tapping, verbal noise) are all methods that the person uses to help center themselves. Everyone is different. This is not an easy thing to witness. don't try and comfort them unless they ask because some need the deep pressure of a hug, and others that might send them further off... do what you can to lessen the stimuli in the room for them (headphones to drown out the excess noise, dim the lights if possible, make sure they have a quiet place to go where no one will bother them for several minutes.(and make sure they know this before the meltdown/ shutdown occurs) ) If you know someone is autistic ask them or their parents if in the event of a meltdown/shutdown what are the best ways to handle the situation, what to look for prior to a meltdown/shutdown to possible prevent it from occurring.

Day 2 of Awareness and Acceptance of Autism month. Before I had kids... and up to (I am ashamed to say) fairly recently.... screaming kids in stores all I could thing was "what brats... their parents really should do something about that.. and yes I even at times thought my own kids were just being bratty. So lets stop for a moment when we hear or see this and instead of thinking what brats... lets look around at what all is going on in the store (lots and lots of sensory input that most people can easily filter out to the subconscious is being processed almost exclusively in the conscious mind of a person with autism, and busy stores can be pure hell for a person with autism). Give the mom or dad with the child a nod and a smile... or even say something nice to them. Because chances are they too feel like having a meltdown and are feeling very exposed, and just want to get their shopping done as quickly as they can. Many don't have a choice as to when they can go to the store for various reasons (work, transportation, being a single parent, money issues...ect.) so instead of condemning the kid as a brat and thinking the parent has poor parenting skills... be compassionate, give the parent a smile and a nod... if you know them assure them that they are a good parent, and are doing a good job. Or even do a random act of kindness towards them if you can.
Day 3. My journey with my oldest.... Ok... Robert was born at 31 weeks due to premature rupture of the membranes caused by polyhyromus, spent 6 weeks in the NICU, suffered from colic, and reflux as a baby, when he was 15 months and not walking on his own we were sent to a neurologist and at 18 months ( he was finally walking on his own) we found out that he has mild diplegic Cerebral Palsy. ok fine initially I was devastated thinking that he was doomed to be in a wheel chair (completely forgot about Gerry off of Facts of Life) gradually I came to realize that that was not the case... the doctor assured us that it was not something that would worsen with age.
Fast forward to Kindergarten... We begin to notice that he has trouble over reacting to teasing (yes I know... he comes by that naturally through me) we moved before 1st grade so he began a new school, with in a week of him being at school we were asked if the school could do anything to help because they had noticed his odd gait (I ALWAYS put the CP on any paper work I have to fill out.) So this new school begins to get him services to help with gross and fine motor issues.. Towards the end of 3rd grade he is having a lot more outbursts and hitting other kids (always the reaction that is caught, never the cause of it) so we decided that we were going to try virtual school the next year... to give him a little time to mature hopefully and time away from his tormentors...Before the end of the year his teacher informs me that he has made comments like he wishes he were never born... so II make a psychiatric appointment for him (earliest available was the following September, but he started counseling right away.)
Our middle child had started PPCD when he turned 3 to help with a speech delay. I took Robert with me to Thomas's meet the teacher the August before he started virtual school... This was the first time anyone ever mentioned AS to me. Robert sat down and started looking thorough a book about idioms, and the silly way they would seem if taken literally... and he looked up and said... I don't get it. I tried to explain which ever idiom it was... Tommy's teacher looked at me and asked "Is he AS?" I was like "huh????" Autism Spectrum... and yes my first thought when I heard those words was Rainman... "Um...NO." so a month or so later we finally got to see the psychiatrist.. and his diagnosis was ADHD and Asperger's syndrome... so yeah he is AS...
The virtual school never added the diagnosis to his IEP, so when I discovered that it was too much of a strain on me and him to fight to get work done and decided to send him back to regular school We had to start the whole assessment process over with the school district.
Robert is very smart (8th grade reading at a college level according to his teachers). Do I feel that AS has made him any less... not even a little bit... yes he has trouble in social situations, but those skills can be learned over time (and I believe that his reading probably helps develop those skills as well) We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and AS is just another label that doesn't make him defective, but should be used to help him overcome his weaknesses.
If you know someone with AS... no matter how severe the case I firmly believe that they are in there somewhere... we just have to keep trying to find the key, the spark to help them grow to their full potential... never ever give up trying to teach, seeking the spark. Everyone deserves love, and understanding , and most of all ACCEPTANCE.

Not just makeup
When you think Avon , you probably think makeup, right? Most people do. Avon is so much more than just make up. We have stuff for everyone.... skin care products, jewelry and watches (even some sterling silver ), clothes, shoes, colon and perfume, shampoos and conditioners, kitchen stuff, toys and stuff for kids...and yes makeup... We even have a line of makeup and clothing geared to the younger set (teens and 20's... older people can wear it too though :)) called Mark.
You may even think... wait a minuet my mom/ grandmother use to/ still uses Avon... isn't that for old ladies? Avon had been around for 129 years....So yes past generations have used and loved the products. But the fact that we are still around should tell you that there has to be something about our products. Check something out... try a product... or just go browse...Mother's day is coming up... if nothing else get something for her... :)
If you haven't seen Avon lately stop by and have a look...youravon.com/astansbury

BIG BIG sale
Do you love lipstick???? I know I do :). Right now Avon is having a BIG sale on lipstick... 5 lipsticks (over 130 different shades total) for $20. So now is the time to buy those lipsticks you've been wanting to try... or just buy a few that you think might make you feel pretty :) I need to go through and look and see the ones I want to get :).
What kind of lipsticks do you like... Me I like lipsticks with Rose or Wine in the name :) silly I know, and I don't like all of them that have that in the name, and not all of the lipsticks that I have have those in the name.
Do you always wear the same color? Or does it depend on time of day, where you are going, and who you will be with? Most women have several different shades. Some are for day time, some going out, some for attracting the attention of that special someone,. Darker vibrant colors for night, lighter neutral colors for day to day, and that occasional pop of color that just lightens your mood when you put it on. Do you have colors that go with certain outfits? How about mixing colors to get just the right shade? (Heck, I have even gone so far as to melt down my favorites when the tubes were almost empty and mix them together to have a color that was my favorites mixed, but be careful if you try this... melted lipstick is very hot....)
I like the dark bold shades, my loving husband how ever prefers me in more lighter natural colors :). but either way I love lipstick... :)

Makeup day
Yes today I am going to share one of my makeup routines... what I use and when I use it :) but first a picture of some of my Avon stash :)
not everything is Avon... well not yet :) but that is most of my stash :) I really need to clean out and refinish my dressing table to use it for it's intended purpose... but that is a couple months off.
Ok after I finish the skin care routine it is time for makeup.
First I put about two squirts of foundation on a foundation brush (or my finger...you can also use a makeup sponge. I am currently using Ideal Flawless in light ivory .

With the makeup brush I dot the foundation on my face and then brush it even... Taking care of course to make sure that there aren't any lines or obvious makeup marks :) It feels nice on my skin, and doesn't cake up.
Now for the concealer... I am currently using Ideal Flawless Concealer in fair. Ideally you want a concealer a shade or two lighter than your foundation to better conceal.
I put this on those darn dark circles I am trying to get rid of :) also sides of nose, down the center of my nose, and the corners of my mouth ...
Then I take either my finger or the foundation brush and rub this in lightly (so there isn't any harsh lines)
Next mascara... what is that you ask... that is the strangest looking mascara you've ever seen? Yup it is definitely different.
Here is what the brush looks like :)
This is called Mega Effects Mascara. It gives pretty good length and coverage...
Here comes the eye liner... purples really make my green eyes pop :) so I chose Glimmersticks Diamonds eyeliner in Sugar Plum . I love these eyeliners because they are self sharpening... just turn the bottom and get a little more to use :)
Under the eye, and at the base of the top lashes... I like to give myself a little cat eye look by going out on the corners just a little :)
Eye Shadow is Eye Dimensions Eyeshadow in sweetheart plum... yes more purple :)
I start by sweeping the lightest color over my entire lid.
Next the middle color goes on the crease .
Finally the darkest color in the outside corners.
I always have to blend ... just my preference, but I like smooth lines vs. harsh lines.
Another coat of mascara... I think that the powder from the shadow may help add length and thickness to the lashes... not sure if it really does or not... but that's how I do it :)
Blush... I love this blush (also love most colors with Rose in the name... that was my Mammaw's first name... so seeing Rose makes me smile) This is the Avon Smooth Minerals rose radiance
I like to put a little in the lid to use.
I'm an apple girl... I put the blush on the round part of my cheeks and sweep upwards.
and now for the lipstick Ultra Color Indulgence Lipstick in Rose Bouquet (yeah another rose :) )
And here is the final product :) circles are A LOT less noticeable... so if you had to guess (no fair if you know me) how old would you say that I am?

I'm an apple girl... I put the blush on the round part of my cheeks and sweep upwards.
and now for the lipstick Ultra Color Indulgence Lipstick in Rose Bouquet (yeah another rose :) )
And here is the final product :) circles are A LOT less noticeable... so if you had to guess (no fair if you know me) how old would you say that I am?

Best laid plans
Well I had planned to do the night skin care today (taking the pictures last night), but our dogs followed me to the corner store and one of them didn't come back (right away) and we couldn't find her... I was feeling very down on myself and not only did I not do the pictures, I didn't do my nightly skin care... :/ on the bright side.... I went outside this morning and the dog was sitting on the porch looking at me like, "Are you going to let me in?"
So instead I will kind of review my thoughts on the morning skin care, and in a little bit show may makeup stash :).
I don't know if there is a difference, so I will let you decide.... the first picture is from January (when I first started using Avon products, and the second one is from yesterday... I know I take goofy selfies... I haven't been using the skin care daily like I should, but I know my skin feel softer, and to me at least is a lot less red than it use to be...
on with my reviews....
The cleanser gets all the dirt and oils off my face. It foams nicely, and is very creamy feeling before it gets wet. It has a very clean smell to it (I know that isn't too descriptive, but that is the only way I can think of to describe it.)I splash my face with warm /hot water to open the pores, use about a pea sized amount (been using more just realized I still had about half of it on my hands after washing my face).... I just use my hands to wash my face... though I may start using a wash rag and see how that does) put it on my face, rinse again with warm to hot water, then a couple of splashes with cold water to close the pores back up.
Not sure if I really need the lift treatment just yet so I don't know if it is doing anything. It has this really cool roller feature to target the areas you want targeted, also has an on and off so you don't have any coming out that will not be used and wasted when you have it sitting on your counter. I open it, turn it on squeeze just a little out (so I see the gel on the bottom of the roller) turn it to off, then roll it in the areas I feel need the lift (jaw line, jowls, around nose and mouth areas...put a little on my forehead this morning after looking at those pictures above :) ) I had been rubbing it in after rolling it on, but today I chose not to... and I do feel a little tightening going on. It too has a pleasantly clean smell to it.
The first time I used the day cream it felt really heavy to me... but then again the only time I really put anything on my face other than an occasional moisturizer (what ever lotion we happened to have laying around) was when we were going to Splashtown... and that was sunblock. So I decided to push through and keep using it and see.... so now when ever I wear make up (which is becoming almost everyday now (got to be a billboard ya know :) ) I do the morning routine skin care... and I wouldn't do without it. The day lotion has a built in sunscreen of 25 spf, and is a great base for my make up. It has a light scent (possibly floral) to it, clean but with a bit of another scent to it.
The eye treatment is another one that I am not sure if it is doing anything yet, but I have only been using the lift and eye treatments for a week or so now so it may just be too early to really tell :)I put a little on (either on my finger, or directly on the areas) eye lid, under eye, and outer corners (concentrating on saggy lids, dark circles and crows feet (really wish those crows would stop walking on my face :) ) It too just has a clean smell to it. I rub it in to the targeted areas...
And now I have my canvas prepared it is time to paint... but that is for another post :)
I'll be posting my make up routine later today...if nothing prevents me from doing so... It is Spring Break right now, and all three boys are here.

Skin Care (face AM routine no make up)
Please Excuse my dirty wall... Ok in the past I haven't really taken as good of care of my face as I should have. Now that I am selling Avon products I decided that it was time for me to start using some products. These are the face products I am currently using... honestly most of them I either got free (for meeting sales goals (the Anew Vital eye cream, the ANEW clinical eye treatment, and firming treatments (just got these last week)) or came with the extra bundle I bought in my 3rd campaign (the cleanser and day creams (both Reversalist) (the bundle was a $35 booster kit that I could purchase to better help my business... there was also a $100 kit that I did not get (it only started being offered at the end of my 3rd campaign and that was the only chance I would have had to get it...)) anyway the little jar is a trial size of the night cream(I bought two trial sizes of the day and night creams my 1st campaign).
and the jar next to that is the hydration mask (which is a new product that just came out) that I just got last week)
So here is what I try to do... and the correct order to use skin care products :)
This is the AM routine
1. I wash my face with the cleanser.
2. comes the treatment... not really sure I need it but I am using it anyway :) being pro active here.
along the jawline, jowls, and nose
3. is the lotion. I get a finger tip full and dot it on my face, then rub it in.( this lotion also has sunblock in it for an added bonus)
4. is eye treatment... decided to go with the Vital as it is suppose to help with the dark circles and help make you look well rested.
after that you put your make up on as usual, or if you're not wearing make up... go about your normal day :)
Here are links to the products I used today. So you can read up a little more on them :)
1. Cleanser
4.Eyes
There are several products to choose from, and Avon is now doing an Auto Replenish for the ANEW brand. You get the day and night lotions plus an eye treatment for one price (A LOT less than you would pay normally) shipped directly to you every 4,6,8 or 12 weeks (your choice).
Hope you enjoyed my silly pictures. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, or just shop around My Avon store online.

How I started
In December I saw a Facebook add for Avon... it said get started for $15. I thought that was a really good deal... My mom used Avon when I was little, and I even stuffed envelopes for the Avon lady . Kenn had been paying me to help him with his business, and since I rarely spend money on myself, coming up with $15 was not hard to do at all.
I started with just one customer, and myself. I picked up a few others at my sons' schools. I am still fairly new at selling, and honestly I have spent more on myself than I have made... but it will come I know :)
Avon is a great company, the products are quality products for great prices. Prices that even a tightwad like me feels ok spending the money on. I don't spend money lightly, and especially don't spend money on myself... plus if I don't believe in a product I can't sell it.
I will share a list in the next couple of days of the products I have and am using. I will also be posting pictures of my self (some wearing the make up I am using, some pictures before Avon products (without make up), and maybe a few without make up so you can see the difference between the before and after (if there is any difference to see) :) close up eye pictures using the three different mascaras I have...and one without any mascara.... so you can see what these look like on a "regular/real" person...
But I want to challenge everyone reading this that if you haven't tried any Avon products (or haven't tried any recently), go to Avon and look around...I'll be posting specials as I find them. Purchase over $35 always have free shipping. Save 20% for purchases over $50 with code AVONFB20. 10% off $40 or more with code Q1WEL15 (good through 4/5/15).
Stay tuned for reviews, pictures, great deals, and my journey with Avon :).
If you'd like to try to sell Avon yourself go to www.startavon.com and enter reference code ASTANSBURY... start up as low as $15
